This is one of the easiest chocolate cake recipes we’ve ever made.
A few months back, my mate Beth over at Babymac put up a post of a simple recipe for a stonkingly good chocolate cake.
For some reason that I’m yet to fully understand, she called this cake #Anne. Anne proves that the internet’s a funny old thing.
Who’d have thought a humble chocolate cake recipe could go viral? To date Beth has been sent 100s of images and comments from people around the world sharing their version.
I like to think of it as a culinary form of the ‘ice bucket challenge’. All we need do now is donate some money to our favourite charity whenever we bake her. I’ve started, by donating money to World Vision for our version.
It was my son’s 13th birthday on Sunday, so Grace and I made Anne to celebrate.
The icing is so delicious Grace made double quantities so she had a decent go at the licking of the bowl ritual. 4 punnets of raspberries later and Anne was looking resplendent in a beautiful ruby coat. You can find the original recipe here. I encourage you to have a go at baking this cake. It’s moist, flavourful and so easy that young children can make it from scratch.
Anne only lasted an hour in our house. With four children and a hungry husband, that was fairly inevitable.
Until next time…

She is called Anne because the woman that came up with the recipe originally and added into my Primary School Ladies Auxillury cookbook was called Anne! Caro you did her PROUD!
