Glebe. Population approximately 11,000 and one of my favourite suburbs in inner-west Sydney. Brimming with diversity, vibe and community. Good people. Chicks with purple hair, boys with no hair yet exquisite tattoos that make up for lack of the former. Dogs dressed in combat fatigues, any kind of noodle dish you’d wish to eat, friendly green grocers selling quality produce and book stores galore whose chairs entice you to sit all day. Shopkeepers with piercings in places I’m yet to understand the why-for. Sweet sandstone cottages tucked down impossibly narrow lanes. Monster triple terraces aching for a reno. The smell of seafood, seagulls and the harbour if the wind blows just so. Here’s a snapshot of finds from our last visit. I wish we lived in Glebe. Maybe one day…
What’s your favourite suburb and why?
Until next time….
